Established on January 10, 1989, the Sacred Heart Canossian College Choir (English Section) has been conducted by Ms. Lilik Sutiono since 1994. Music lovers from different classes come together with the aim of enhancing their performance standard and promoting the art of choral singing. Through regular and systematic practices, members have cultivated the proficiency of sight singing and music appreciation. The Choir has been receiving encouraging comments in the achievement of the Distinction Award in the Inter-School Singing Competition in recent years. In July 2018, the Choir took part in “The International Youth Music Festival I. 2018” in Bratislava as the only representing team in Asia. It has achieved Gold Band Awards in “Children’s choir up to 16 years old” and “Chamber choirs 9-24 people”, as well as the Special Prize in “Outstanding Vocal Culture”. In July 2019, the Choir took part in “The 2nd Harbin International Children’s Choral Festival” in Harbin, China as the representing team in Macau and has achieved the Performance Award. These dedicated young singers will continue their efforts in strengthening their musical skills and reaching out to share the beauty of choral music on stage with more people. In May 2021, the Choir took part in “The World Peace Choral Festival”. It has achieved Gold Band Award rated with the third in “Youth Choir’. In June 2022, the Choir took part in “2022 World Choir Festival”. Among the 200 competing choirs from all over the world, the Choir has achieved Gold Band Award in “Female Choir up to 29 years old”. And it has fortunately been selected as one of the 20 choirs to participate in “Showcase Concert of Outstanding Competing Choirs”. In June 2024, the Choir took part in “Musica Orbis Prague Festival 2024” in Prague. It has achieved Gold Trophy Awards in “Children’s choir up to 16 years old unrestricted” and the winner in the category.
