North Stars Chamber Orchestra (United States)

Conductors: Sharyn Peterson e Malcolm Peterson

The North Stars Chamber Orchestra is an elite group of young musicians ages 15-25 drawn from Mount Baker/Fidalgo Youth Symphony and from the San Juan Islands, greater Seattle, and other areas of Northwest Washington. The personnel of the orchestra changes over time, as some graduate and move on, and new members join the group. Director Sharyn Peterson has led, taught orchestras and choirs throughout Northwest Washington for many years, with her husband, Malcolm’s assistance as a Brass Specialist. She has also conducted and arranged orchestrations for over 20 musicals, and soloed on violin and voice in many varied venues and ensembles. See her full bio at Conducted by Sharyn and Malcolm Peterson, the North Stars Chamber Orchestra travelled to Lisbon, Portugal, in 2015 to perform in the Lisbon Music Fest, and performed again in the “Beethoven to Dvorak” Festival in Prague and Vienna in 2016. A glorious trip to Vaasa, Finland followed in 2017, where the group played in the Lutheran Cathedral of Vaasa, collaborating with musicians from the Vaasa Institute and the local symphony orchestra. Summer 2018 included tours to Ireland (Limerick, Galway, and Dublin). The North Stars Chamber Orchestra is very much looking forward to the current Concert Tour in Florence Italy, and Lisbon, Portugal.
